3 NATURAL SUNBURN REMEDIES
Although we all like to be slightly tanned, a sunburn happens too quickly. Luckily, with a few ingredients that are easy to find at home, it’s possible to create a remedy to ease the burn.
To ensure a healthy skin, here are a few natural, homemade remedies to pamper your body and face.
Lavender
We all know the benefits of lavender: helps relaxation, accelerates healing and has anti-inflammatory properties. Because, above all, it’s the smell that we love, here is a very easy DIY remedy to relieve sunburns:
Instructions:
- Place two handfuls of dried lavender flowers in a fine cloth
- Place in a hot bath
- Relax in the bath for 10-15 minutes.
You can replace dried lavender with lavender essential oil:
- Dilute 5 drops of essential oil in a 1/2 glass of powdered milk
- Pour into a hot bath
- Relax in the bath for 10-15 minutes.
Tea bags
Sunburn on the eyelids or blisters elsewhere on the face or small areas of the body? We’ve got you covered! Our remedy: tea bags. Yes, the tannin in tea – especially black tea – is known for its ability to remove swelling from our skin.
Instructions:
- Soak a black tea bag in very cold water
- Lightly squeeze the bag
- Apply to the eyelids or the burns
Melon rind
Honeydew melon, watermelon or cantaloupe, who doesn’t like melons? Once you’ve enjoyed it by the pool, don’t get rid of that rind. Believe it or not, melon skin contains vitamin A, a vitamin that quickly heals sunburns.
Instructions:
- Take a melon rind
- Cut it into pieces to have a flat surface
- Apply the rind on the burn
- Leave on skin until the rind becomes warm.
Obviously, these remedies do not protect the skin from UV rays. Therefore, be careful and remember that moderation always tastes better!
