Thermotherapy: How to Experience a Gentler Cold Step
While our cold plunge takes a bit of a break to freshen up—it will be back in all its frosty glory in October—we’re taking this opportunity to show you how to enjoy the spa without the glacial experience!
Rely on the waterfall’s cousin
Sure, the waterfall might be quiet right now, but its smaller counterparts are still full of cold water! The cold plunge buckets are the perfect alternative to complete the second step—hot, cold, rest—of your thermal cycle.
Do a gentler cold step
There are gentler ways to experience cold after the heat of a sauna! You can slip into the temperate pool. You can head to the rainforest and enjoy a cool mist. Or simply stay outside, somewhere in the shade maybe, on colder days to cool off gently.
Head to the great indoors
Sometimes, a temperature-controlled space is what our body needs. Our body care and massage rooms are the perfect cocoons of comfort, neither too hot nor too cold.
Make your spa day a spa evening
When the sun sets and the temperature drops, you’ll seek warmth more than anything. Slow down, enjoy the evening breeze and make time for the spa on weeknights to escape your busy routine.
Focus on exfoliation
When was the last time you exfoliated? Our exfoliation space is fully dedicated to the practice. With the seasons changing, we could all give our skin a little extra attention.
Give meditation a try
Whether you find a quiet space to meditate by yourself or find a guided meditation on the board outside of Finlandia on your visit, a spa visit is the perfect time to practise mindfulness. Journaling or doodling can also be a great way to calm the mind!
Eat, drink and be merry
Head to the Resto or the Biergarden and savour the seasonal and local menus for one last time before they become filled with wintery flavours.
Try something new
Forget about what’s missing and focus on what’s there. The exfoliation room, the sauna rituals, the massages, the body care treatments, the gentler cold steps, the saunas, the rest areas, the hammocks and the forest beach—there’s plenty more for you to discover before the cold plunge returns, better than ever.
